about the church
As a church we are affiliated to the Evangelical Fellowship of Congregation Churches (EFCC). This associates us with a wider body of believers who hold to ‘Gospel truth, Gospel fellowship and Gospel Independence’. Our minister, Mark Ladds, is a regional secretary in the Fellowship.
about the Area
The church is situated in the Newport ward of Middlesbrough and is located in the north of the town. A large proportion of the ward is comprised of industrial units, with the housing stock being primarily residential homes; retirement/independent living bungalows and other properties scheduled for redevelopment
Newport is ranked as the fourth most deprived ward in Middlesbrough and this has been largely driven by low income and high crime rates. The overall population of Newport ward was 11,839 according to the Mid-year Population estimates 2018, with 22.46% (2,659) being Dependent Children aged 0 to 15 years, 66.22% (7,840) working age 16 to 59 years and 11.32% (1,340) aged over 60 years.
There are also large Student and migrant populations within this ward and this along with having the largest population of asylum seekers in the country means that Cannon Park has the opportunity to preach the gospel to people from acceross the world.
Prayer requests
Please pray that we will see salvation and baptisms, gospel workers join in the harvest, and financial support to keep the ministry alive.
