about the church
Grace Community Church Loftus was planted in 2014. The church is affiliated to the Fellowship of Independent Evangelical Churches and pastored by Robin Singleton. Robin grew up in Kent but studied in Middlesbrough and then married and stayed in the North East.
The church longs to reach out with the Gospel of Jesus Christ and to see the salvation of men and women, boys and girls. We are a multi-generational church and we seek to integrate children into church life and avoid unnecessary age segregation..
Our outreach ministries include a Mental Health Support Group and we are making final preparations to open a community cafe which we pray will be a place of safety, a place of friendship and a place where people come to know Jesus.
about the Area
Loftus is a small town on the North East coast of England between Whitby and Teesside. It is a town with considerable heritage set in beautiful surroundings – ancient woodland, farmland, moors, cliffs and beaches. The sense of community is strong.
The town boomed during the success of the local ironstone mines and the associated heavy industry. Sadly most of this prosperity has now disappeared and left in its wake unemployment, boarded up shops and social and financial deprivation. Two derelict non-conformist churches highlight the spiritual decline of the town.
Recently Loftus has been awarded a government grant to help regenerate the High Street infrastructure. We are very thankful for this but our prayer is that the people of Loftus will know true spiritual regeneration!
